These pictures along with many others of interest to us Langhorne natives and our friends are archived at the Historic Langhorne Association at our old Library on Maple Ave. A brief of our trolley history is below. Anyone interested in becoming a member should click here Historic Langhorne Association to go to our web site. Joining will help us continue our work of preserving the past.
Beginning in 1896 the trolley system was started and expanded to the point you could travel most anywhere in Bucks County. You could travel from Bristol to Doylestown, from Trenton to Newtown, from Doylestown to Willow Grove and New Hope, from New Hope to Lambertville and other connections in New Jersey. City folks took trains out of the city and then took the trolley to our "resorts" the Bellevue Hotel, Parkland, Langhorne Manor's Hotel and the resort where St. Mary's Manor was and now the Bible College is. This all ended with the advent of Henry Ford's Model "T" being made affordable for us common folks, the trolley system was slowly being abandoned, and about 1935 no longer was this service available.
